Born as Lea Michele Sarfati to Edith Sarfati, a nurse, and Mark David Sarfati, a real estate agent, Lea began working professionally on Broadway at age eight. She attended Tenafly High School, where she was active in choir and developed her singing talents. She was also accepted to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts.
